Job Title: Bookkeeper/Office

 

Job summary:

This role requires a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to manage the financial operations of our quilting store. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills and a passion for supporting a thriving small business. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: 
    • Assist in preparing accurate and timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
      • including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements
    • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Inventory Management: 
    • Monitor and reconcile inventory records
    • conduct regular audits to identify and resolve discrepancies/shrinkage
    • assist in maintaining accurate inventory control procedures
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: 
    • Assist with accounts payable (vendor payments)
    • Assist with accounts receivable (customer invoicing, deposits and collections) to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Cash Management: 
    • Assist with cash handling procedures, including daily reconciliation of cash receipts and disbursements
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: 
    • Assist in preparing and monitoring store budgets
    • Assist in analyzing financial performance
    • provide forecasts to support business planning
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Assist in identifying sales trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings
    • Provide actionable insights for benefit of store management
  • Record Keeping: 
    • Maintain accurate and organized financial records
    • Maintain filing and document management related to transactions and reports.
  • Communication & Coordination:
    • Collaborate with store management to address potential financial issues
    • Communicate effectively with vendors and customers as needed
    • Assist customers as needed 

Qualifications and skills

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
  • Proficiency in Rain and Microsoft Excel is desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Prior experience in accounting or bookkeeping, particularly within a retail environment, is preferred.
