Job Title: Bookkeeper/Office
Job summary:
This role requires a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to manage the financial operations of our quilting store. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills and a passion for supporting a thriving small business.
Key responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing accurate and timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor and reconcile inventory records
- conduct regular audits to identify and resolve discrepancies/shrinkage
- assist in maintaining accurate inventory control procedures
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Assist with accounts payable (vendor payments)
- Assist with accounts receivable (customer invoicing, deposits and collections) to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Cash Management:
- Assist with cash handling procedures, including daily reconciliation of cash receipts and disbursements
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing and monitoring store budgets
- Assist in analyzing financial performance
- provide forecasts to support business planning
- Financial Analysis:
- Assist in identifying sales trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings
- Provide actionable insights for benefit of store management
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records
- Maintain filing and document management related to transactions and reports.
- Communication & Coordination:
- Collaborate with store management to address potential financial issues
- Communicate effectively with vendors and customers as needed
- Assist customers as needed
Qualifications and skills
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
- Proficiency in Rain and Microsoft Excel is desired.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional organization and time management skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Prior experience in accounting or bookkeeping, particularly within a retail environment, is preferred.
