APRIL EMBROIDERY CLUB
This month, we will be using Inktense colored pencils by Derwent. You may purchase through Heidi. My sample mug rug was purchased through embroiderydesigns.com and I chose a Talavera Tiles Wallhanging to choose my single design. In the website you can search Pat Williams, as she was one of their designers who created many of these coloring designs. My choice was block 11. You may also use red work designs and use the pencils to color the designs within the outlines. I loved learning about this process and found information on YouTube. Just be sure you are looking at fabric techniques. I think it brings a new dimension to our embroidery and quilting projects. Check out Heidi’s samples at the store.
Supplies:
- Your design loaded to your machine
- Directions for your project
- All fabrics to be used in your project. They recommended Kona cotton for the
- coloring portion. I used InsulBrite for my Mug rug rather than batting.
- Clear Aloe Vera gel.
- The right size hoop
- Cut Away or Polymesh Stabilizer
- Inktense pencils
- Small paint brushes, (size dependent on designs to be colored)
Remember all your standard supplies like your power cord, scissors, pins, air erase marking pen, sewing thread, tape measure and ruler, and embroidery foot. ESPECIALLY YOUR MACHINE MANUAL!

Next to her horse, sewing is her second passion, something she's been doing since a child. She loves introducing and supporting others on this creative and useful art form. |
