My Mat Bag
Do you have a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L panel that you've been meaning to use in a special project? This Mat Bag would be great for that - you're panel design should be at least 24" wide by 18" tall for the small or at least 24" wide by 36" for the large bag. Or, pick some wonderful yardage for your bag.
Slip your 6” x 24” ruler into an interior pocket while a cutting mat easily slides into the center. There are a couple zippered pockets on the inside, as well. You may also want to customize your bag with an exterior pocket – it’s up to you!
The pattern includes instructions for an 18" x 24" and a 24" x 36" mat, be sure to decide which you want to make before you begin. You will also want to consider if the design of your fabric has direction because you'll need a little more fabric if this is the case.
Besides space for your mat and a large pocket for your 6" x 24" ruler, it also has a zipper pocket for holding smaller rulers and other accessories such as your rotary cutter, extra blades, patterns, scissors as well other rulers to keep everything safe as you travel. The padded handles make carrying everything a breeze!
WHAT TO BRING:
- Sewing machine with foot pedal, power cord, bobbin, extra needles

- Rotary Cutter and at least 2 acrylic rulers one of which should be at least 6" x 24"
- Foam Stabilizer (like Soft & Stabil, available at Sew Fabulous)
- Med to Heavy weight fusible stabilizer (available at Sew Fabulous)
- ½” Cotton Cording for the handles
- 30” Double-sided zipper (2 if you’d like to put an extra pocket on the outside)
